Some changes to parking are in store on two long stretches in downtown Beloit.

The Beloit City Council is set to decide on an ordinance change that would convert Broad Street’s four-block run from one-hour and two-hour parking to unrestricted parking.

Public Works Director Bill Frisbee says Broad Street has less in-and-out service and more off-street lots than other stretches of downtown.

Frisbee says the switch would manufacture more all-day parking as commercial redevelopment along the East Grand Avenue riverfront is set to knock out some off-street parking.

He says the city has communicated the change with businesses up and down the stretch of Broad Street. The proposal coming Monday would leave existing
limits in place on Broad Street Bryden Motors and the 615 Club.

Under a related change, the stretch of East Grand a block north of Broad Street up for resurfacing and would see the addition of 11 handicap accessible spots on the street’s north side.
