The 21-year-old Madison man convicted of shooting a 19-year-old outside of a Beloit Memorial High School basketball game more than two years ago will be back on the street in two-and-a-half years.
Tuesday morning in Rock County Court Amaree Goodall plead guilty to homicide by negligent handling of a dangerous weapon. He was originally charged with first-degree reckless homicide.
Judge Barbara McCrory sentenced Goodall to the maximum under the amended charge, five years in prison and five years of extended supervision. Goodall has served almost half of that time already while waiting for trial.
Both the victim and Goodall were attending a basket ball game in Beloit in January of 2022 when a fight broke out in the parking lot. Goodall went to his vehicle to get a gun and fired several shots, one of which hit the victim in the leg.
The victim later died at the hospital.
Goodall was arrested nearly two months later in Michigan.
