A 26-year-old Machesney Park man is accused of falsely reporting a shooting to Beloit Police in an attempt to get the man his wife was sleeping with arrested.

Nikolas James Frer is charged in Rock County Court with swatting or false reporting of an emergency.

According to the criminal complaint 10 officers from three agencies responded to a home on the 1600 block of Dewey Avenue on January 31st after Frer called 911 to report that he heard a man tell a woman he would killer her and then a single gunshot.

Officers learned that the resident of the home was in Texas and that he was currently in a sexual relationship with Frer’s wife.

Frer waived his right to a preliminary hearing Monday in Rock County. He’s currently free on a $1,000 signature bond.
