A 23-year-old Janesville woman accused of leaving a seven-year-old an an infant home alone while she gambled at a local tavern is bound over for trial.
Tuesday morning Jamia Thomas waived her right to a preliminary hearing in Rock County Court on two counts of neglecting a child.
According to the criminal complaint, Janesville Police were called to a home on the 1200 block of Hamilton Avenue shortly before 8:30 the night of May 19th on the report that two young children were home alone.
Police made contact with Thomas who admitted that she had left to play the slot machines at Bogeys Burgers and Beer and had lost track of time.
Officers went to check the welfare of the kids and found them in a room with the television blaring and marijuana strewn about. The seven-year-old was holding the infant, who was crying.
Thomas is currently free on a signature bond. She’s due back in Rock County court for her arraignment next week.
