A 48-year-old Janesville man will spend more than a decade behind bars after taking a plea deal in a pair of unrelated sexual assaults.
Joseph Cole Thomas, who lists his address as the Motel 6 in Janesville was charged in Rock County Court last October with repeated sexual assault of a child after an eight-year-old reported that he had been molesting her for months.
In January Thomas was charged in Rock County Court with third-degree sexual assault after a co-worker at a Janesville hotel reported that she woke up to Thomas sexually assaulting her multiple times.
In May Thomas plead guilty to second-degree sexual assault of a child and a charge of intimidating a victim was dismissed but read into the record.
Judge Derrick Grubb also dismissed but read into the record the third-degree sexual assault charge.
At sentencing last week Judge Grubb gave Thomas 12 years in prison followed by eight years of extended supervision.
