Beloit Police say a pair of 17-year-olds shot flare guns at a home of the 1600 block of Dewey Avenue as a family with two young children sat on the porch.
Steven Meade II of Janesville and Ayden Ross of Beloit are charged with first-degree recklessly endangering safety and obstructing an officer. Ross is also charged with four counts of bail jumping as he has nine other open cases.
According to the criminal complaint, two women were on the porch with a baby and a toddler when Meade and Ross walked up and asked if they could see the baby. She told them no, and they left.
Moments later, they heard a shot fired, and a burning red streak flew past … nearly hitting them.
Police found a spent flare cartridge at the scene. Then cops spotted Meade and Ross running through a yard.
Ross and Meade are both being held in the Rock County Jail on $10,000 cash bonds.
