Out of the 500 businesses around the country receiving $10,000 Backing Small Business grants from American Express and Main Street America, four of them are in Rock County.

Kimberly Megan is the owner of Chic & Unique at 318 State Street in Beloit. She’s using the grant to remove the stucco from her building and restore it to the original brick.

The three other Rock County businesses that received similar grants include Bountiful Beloit, the Looking Glass in Janesville, and the Vintage Roost in Evansville.

Later this year, grantees will have the opportunity to apply for an additional $30,000 enhancement grant that will be awarded to 25 small businesses.
