Milton High School’s stepping up its welding game thanks to some grant funding that’ll bring new, more versatile machinery.
Milton High School welding instructor Terry Schindler says an American Welding Society grant will bring six new welding machines to the school’s shop. The new machines allow students to learn three types of welding on the same machine.
Schindler says it allows Milton High School to offer more flexible and varied welding training to more students at once.
The new equipment comes as local manufacturers are turning more and more high school welders to cultivate a local skills pipeline.
Schindler says a growing number of Milton schools’ budding welders are females. Some got their feet wet just last month at a girls welding clinic that Milton High hosted.
The new welding equipment launches this fall.
