A 29-year-old Janesville woman is accused of swindling thousands of dollars out of an elderly neighbor.

According to the criminal complaint, Rock County Human Services became involved in the case when the victim’s electricity was shut off because her checking account had been drained of funds.

The victim told investigators that she gave Audry Marie Dominy her debit card information because she agreed to help her pay rent for two months.

Police say Dominy saved the victim’s card information on her phone and used it to buy nearly $2000 worth of food delivery, a new XBox for her unemployed boyfriend, several Amazon purchases, and pay five months in rent.

Dominy reportedly admitted to using the victim’s debit card without her knowledge and claimed she intended to pay the money back despite making no effort to do so when she received a $5,000 tax return.

Dominy is scheduled to make her initial appearance in Rock County Court on a felony charge of identity theft – financial gain, crime against an elderly person on July 22nd.
