Janesville police say the man who savagely stabbed two Walgreen’s employees in May used a pair of scissors he’d snatched off the store’s photo counter.

27-year-old homeless man Edward Toyer remains in jail with a $1 million bond set this week in Rock County court.

Court documents say Toyer went in a Walgreen’s on Janesville’s west side May 18 and stabbed two store employees during a brutal onslaught that left the workers bleeding severely.

According to court documents, security footage shows Toyer came in the Walgreen’s and began pacing around the store until all the customers left.

Police say Toyer then sprinted at a female employee and slashed her in the head and hand with the stolen scissors, then stabbed her in the back. He then beat and kicked the other worker, a male, and stabbed him in the neck.

Court documents say the store was empty, and Toyer had a “thousand-yard stare” as he stabbed the employees.

Toyer fled, but police used an aerial drone to locate him a few blocks away. They say they found him covered in blood.
