
Thomas Sykes, the 34-year-old Beloit man arrested Wednesday after he appeared in a family’s backyard and charged at police, is ordered a $5,000 cash bond.
A criminal complaint alleges that Tuesday night, Sykes entered his exes home on the 700 block of Elm Street and attacked the children living their along with their grandfather before leaving the home.
The complaint then says Wednesday afternoon, Sykes appeared in the backyard of a family home on Oak Street and witnesses thought he may have been “on something”.
Sykes then sprinted at responding Beloit Police Officer Freedman and ignored commands from her to stop. Freedman then fired a round from her pistol, almost slipping down a small hill as she tried to keep her distance from Sykes.
The complaint confirms Sykes was not struck by the shot.
Sykes faces charges of child abuse, resisting an officer, bail jumping, burglary, and disorderly conduct.
