The Red Cross is helping an Evansville family after an early evening fire caused extensive damage to their home. A fire department news release says Evansville firefighters were called to the 100 block of Millard Court about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report a flames showing from an attached garage. Firefighters knocked down the flames in about ten-minutes, but the fire had spread to the home and attic. The occupants escaped before first responders arrived. The home is considered uninhabitable. Firefighters say siding from a neighboring home was also melted off by the heat. The cause is under investigation, but not considered suspicious.
