A number of Beloit residents were without power early Tuesday morning after an accident caused an outage.

Alliant Energy Communications Partner Melissa McCarville says the electric outage was caused by a car hitting an electric pole, and the outage impacted a little over 1,300 customers.

McCarville says Alliant crews arrived on the scene and were able to restore power within just under 2 hours.

McCarville says calls for the outage first came in around 1:30am.
