The 20-year-old Janesville man charged with fleeing police on a dirt bike over the weekend is held on a $2000 cash bond.

Braxton Whitfield made his initial appearance before Rock Court Commissioner Jack Hoag this week on a charge of attempting to flee an officer.

Assistant District Attorney Cheinqua White argued that Whitfield has nine missed court appearances and was on probation for Robbery with Use of Force and Operating a Vehicle Without Consent as a Passenger.

Janesville police say an officer attempted to Whitfield for operating a dirt bike without a headlight, about 11:00 o’clock Friday night. Whitfield is accused of speeding away and driving recklessly through the community before eventually being apprehended in the 1300 block of Mineral Point Avenue.

Braxton is due back in Rock County Court on May 21st.
