The weekend brings more gunfire in Beloit.
A city of Beloit spokeswoman tells Big Radio police have made no arrests as they continue to investigate two separate shootings that came overnight on Saturday and Sunday in Beloit.
Authorities say a man remains hospitalized Monday in a shooting officials say happened inside a house in the 1200 Bock of Dewey Avenue. That’s in the Merrill neighborhood on the city’s east side. Police say that shooting happened about 3 a.m. No other details were available as of Monday afternoon.
Officials say say a second shooting broke out shortly before 1:30 a.m. Sunday — that one on the city’s west side, in the 1300 block of Vernon Avenue, about a block west of the Vernon Avenue Park. Police say they found undisclosed evidence of that shooting.
Authorities say no people, residences or vehicles were stuck in the Sunday shooting.
Sunday’s gunfire marks the fifth shooting reported in Beloit since the start of April. Beloit has averaged at least one shooting per week since the beginning of March, with more than a half a dozen people reported injured in gun violence, and one person killed.
