Janesville police are trying to identify a man involved in a potential attempted child abduction incident Monday morning.

According to a release from the Janesville Police Department, a first grade student was walking to school in the 300 block of Lincoln Street at 8am when a man in a two-door red car pulled up.

Police say the man made contact with the student and claimed to know the student’s mother, but the student challenged the legitimacy of the person and then ran to Wilson Elementary School.

No further description of the subject was given.
