The city of Janesville has named three finalists for Janesville Fire Department’s next fire chief.

The city announced today the police and fire commission has named the top three as:

— Glenside Fire Protection District of Glendale, Illinois, Deputy Fire Chief John Kolarik.

— Janesville Battalion Chief Ryan Murphy.

— South Metro Rescue Authority of Parker, Colorado District Chief Scott Sarver.

The city brought in six candidates – including two from Janesville’s own fire department – for initial interviews and a public meet and greet last week.

The city says its police and fire commission meets the three finalists for final interviews on Monday.

Current Janesville Fire Chief Jim Ponkauskas is set to retire in May.
