ECHO is partnering with the City of Janesville to help administer the $500,000 the City Council set aside to help residents affected by last month’s mass eviction.

Executive Director Jessica Locher they are providing first months rent, security deposits, hotel vouchers, and moving costs for people facing homelessness.

Locher says the City of Janesville’s Housing Services Division is helping affected families fill out their paperwork so ECHO is able to cut them a check right away.

Locher says luckily some of the houses have sold to new landlords who are allowing people to stay in their homes. Some other landlords have agreed to look past evictions and bad credit to allow people to move in.
