A portion of Riverside Drive in Beloit is getting a special designation in honor of an annual veteran’s trip.

City Manager Jerry Gabrielatos says a portion of Pleasant Street and Riverside Drive from White to Henry Avenue will have the name “VetsRoll Drive” in honor of the annual trip, which takes veterans out to Washington D.C. just before Memorial Day Weekend.

City Council Member Kevin Leavy says it is an awe-inspiring experience to see all the people line the street to send off the vets and welcome them back into town.

Each year, VetsRoll transports more than 200 veterans to Washington D.C at no expense to the participants.

This year’s trip will take place May 19th through the 22nd.
