A unanimous vote Tuesday night from the Janesville School Board has made high school lacrosse teams a reality in the district.

Janesville Athletic Director Jim McClowry says there will be both boys and girls teams, they’ll co-op with Milton and Fort Atikinson, and will take part in their first season in the spring of 2025.

McClowry says the Janesville Lacrosse Club’s youth program has been a foundation to the popularity of the sport in the area, because you have to have a feeder system in place to build a program.

In 2025, the total cost of the boys and girls programs is around $55,000; but McClowry estimates the ongoing cost after the first year to be between $32,000 and $35,000 for the two programs.
