The Milton House Museum is striving to tell the story of enslaved workers’ struggles for freedom before, during, and after the Civil War.

Wisconsin’s only underground railroad site that is open to the public is working to touch every student in the state at some point during their education.

As part of the goal, the Milton House is entering stage two of its fundraising drive – aiming to raise a total of $750,000 for the Vision Fund.

Executive Director Keighton Klos says they were able to raise $144,000 in 2023 during stage one.

Klos says the funds are being utilized to develop curriculum and educational materials that align with the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, creating a virtual tour of the museum, and developing an audio tour app for self-guided tours of the museum.
