Janesville police say speed and alcohol are likely factors in a fatal traffic crash on the city’s north side.  Police say the crash happened on Milton Avenue near the Interstate about 2:41 a.m. Monday.  A news release indicates an officer first noticed the victim’s vehicle sitting at a flashing red signal downtown for an extended period of time.  Shortly after, another officer saw it traveling at approximately 100 miles-per-hour north on Milton Avenue.  The vehicle then crashed and the driver was ejected.  Police officials stress at no time did any pursuing officer turn on their emergency lights or exceed normal speeds.
