The Hedberg Public Library in Janesville unveils a new mural in the children’s room.

Head of Youth Services Elizabeth Matson says Madison-based artist Emily Balsley created the colorful piece of art in just five days.

In addition to whimsical animals, insects, birds, and vegetables, the mural includes a few of the five practices integral to early literacy: read, sing, and play.

Matson says the mural was made possible by the Cathy Norris Memorial Fund.

Balsley will return to the library on March 21st for Draw with Emily, a fun interactive art workshop for kids ages 7-12.
