Milton aims to streamline its zoning rules so it’s easier for developers to build affordable housing in a city that’s creating hundreds of new jobs.
City Administrator Paul Hensch says the city’s working through its first zoning ordinance reboot in years. One update could rid the city of the need to use a planned-unit development process for duplexes and apartments.
He says a more streamlined residential zoning process would benefit the city at a time when developer interest in new housing is high.
Hensch started as Milton’s new city administrator late last year. He lives in a ranch-style duplex home in Edgerton — the closest to Milton that he could find an affordable house that fits his needs.
The city of Milton will show residents a first draft of its zoning reboot in March.
