Janesville Police are releasing more information about an incident earlier this week where an officer had to shoot a dog that was attacking him.

According to a news release, the owner of the two German Shepherds that were running loose on Wednesday was previously issued a warning about their dogs running at large.

The owner installed a fence, but it appears one of the dogs was able to manipulate the latch mechanism and open the gate.

While an officer shot one of the dogs that bit him, the other dog was tased and taken to the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin where it was later claimed by its owner.

Janesville Police say the dog’s owner was cited for dog running at large Friday morning.
