After nearly three decades in the position, Rock County District Attorney David O’Leary announces he is not seeking re-election in November.

O’Leary says he is proud of the work his office has done in protecting the community and giving a voice to the victims of crime.

Assistant District Attorney Jason Sanders is the first candidate to throw his hat in the ring.

In a news release, O’Leary indicates that he is endorsing Sanders, who is running as a Democrat.

Sanders has a decade of experience in criminal trial work, as both a prosecutor and defense attorney, and currently prosecutes a wide variety of crimes, including homicide and drug offenses.
