The Evansville Community School District Board of Education approves a five-year operational referendum for the April ballot.

Superintendent Steve Lutzke says the district is asking for $2.7 million in the 2024-2025 school year and that number would increase each year to $5.9 million in the 2028-2029 school year.

Lutzke says the district is facing a $2.4 million shortfall in the 2024-2025 school year due to the 2018 operational referendum expiring.

The tax impact would be about $147 on a $100,000 home in the first year.

The district is holding informational sessions for voters on January 30th and February 20th at 6:00 p.m. in the media room at Evansville High School.
