Those looking to hit the snowmobile trails in Rock County will have to hold out just a bit longer.

Rock County Snowmobile Alliance Trail Boss Bill Slater says there’s quite a bit of moisture in the snow, and almost no frost in the ground, so they’re waiting until they get cooler temps, but there is a promising forecast on the horizon this weekend.

Slater says the majority of trails in the county are on private property, so they have to do a good job of respecting landowners and making sure there are good conditions for people to have a safe ride on the trails.

Slater says the trails could open up late Friday or early Saturday.
