The Turtle Island Park in Beloit will need to be totally replaced in the future, and the city wants residents opinions on what that should look like.

Director of Strategic Communications Sarah Lock says they’ve known for a few years that the park was nearing the end of its life, but they finally had to pull the plug and close the park this fall after it no longer became safe.

Lock says they’ll be holding a public information and feedback session on the park on January 8th at 6pm at the Beloit Public Library, and they encourage residents to come out, look at possible designs, and offer their input.

Lock says the city has allocated $750,000 in ARPA funding towards the project, but they’ll also be looking into partnerships and donations to help fund the new park.
