Two neighboring drinking and dining establishments downtown could run under just one liquor license.

City Clerk Lori Stottler says the Genisa Wine bar and Italian eatery and the future Jack and Jenny’s right next door are owned by the same owner. They’d requested to operate both under an umbrella liquor license.

The owner of the side-by-side properties along North Main Street had requested the city’s liquor board to extend Genisa’s class B bar and grill license to Jack and Jenny’s.

The Alcohol License Advisory Board was slated to discuss the request Tuesday, but the request got pulled by the applicant without a new date set.

Jack and Jenny’s would then run as a subsidiary of Genisa.

Both establishments share a dining patio, and Stottler says current law wouldn’t allow them to share that space under separate business liquor licenses.

Stottler says it’s the first time she’s seen such a request, but she says a state Department of Revenue Official says other cities have OK’d similar arrangements.
