A Madison man is dead after a vehicle crash near Edgerton Thursday morning.

According to a release, shortly after 4am Thursday the Wisconsin State Patrol received a report of a disabled sedan in the lanes of traffic on Interstate 39/90 near mile marker 161 northbound.

The release says while troopers were responding to the location, another report came in that the sedan was struck by a semi-tractor-trailer.

The driver and lone occupant of the sedan was pronounced dead at scene by the Dane County Medical Examiner, while the driver of the semi was not injured.

The state patrol will be conducting a reconstruction and a crash investigation, and the names of the occupants are not being released at this time.
