Rock County could slow the e-bike action on county trails and curb use of remote-controlled vehicles and aerial drones in its parks.
The Rock County Board this Thursday is taking a first look at proposed updates to its parks ordinance that could bring a speed limit of 15 miles an hour for motorized electric bicycles and scooters on county walking and biking trails.
It’s not clear how a speed limit on county trails could be monitored or enforced.
The new rules also could ban use of remote-controlled vehicles in county parks. Another change would require anybody who wants to fly a drone in a county park to get a written OK from the parks supervisor.
According to a memo, county supervisor Mary Mawhinney brought the proposed changes. Big Radio was unable to reach her for comment. The county’s attorney says the rule changes would be legal under state law.
