As Thanksgiving approaches, the Salvation Army Rock County is still looking for both volunteers, and donations of whole turkeys.

Volunteer and Special Events Coordinator Michelle Adkins says this year’s meal will be happening on Tuesday, November 21st from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in Beloit, and on Wednesday, November 22nd from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in Janesville.

Adkins says the community meal is a cherished tradition that brings warmth and sustenance to those in need.

Adkins says the Salvation Army needs about 50 turkeys and hundreds of volunteers to help cook and serve food – particularly at the Beloit location.

Turkeys can be dropped off at 514 Sutherland venue in Janesville between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
