After months of work and crunching numbers, the Beloit School Board was able to adopt the 2023-2024 district budget.
Executive Director of Business Bob Chady says preliminary budgets showed a deficit of nearly $2.3 million dollars, but after getting more info on state aid, they’re able to have a balanced budget for 2023-2024.
Chady says despite the balanced budget, the general fund went down slightly because total expenses for the general fund ended up increasing, with the fund accounting for 9.88% of the budget compared to 9.93% last year.
According to Chady and Superintendent Dr. Willie Garrison, only four balanced budgets have been presented to the board over the last 20 years.
