A residential fire at an apartment building in downtown Janesville causes $15,000 in damage.

The Janesville Fire Department says firefighters were dispatched to the Garden Court Apartments on North Main Street shortly after 9:00 Friday morning.

First responders found that the kitchen in a fourth floor apartment was on fire.

The fire was contained in less than 15 minutes and all of the tenants except the one where the fire occurred were able to return to their apartments.

The cause of the fire was determined to be unintentional.
