The Rock County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a pair of fraudulent calls were made to residents in recent days.

According to a release, in the first incident the caller stated he was a member of the sheriff’s office and told the reporting person they missed jury duty and needed to pay a $500 cash bond via the Cash App or they’d be arrested and taken to jail.

In another instance, the fraudulent caller stated he was a sergeant with the Rock County Sheriff’s office and again told the reporting person they missed a jury duty summons and had to pay $500 or their would be a warrant for their arrest.

The Rock County Sheriff’s office reminds residents they will never call the public to request a payment for a cash bond over the phone, and people should report suspicious calls to the Rock County Communications Center.
