The Janesville City Council has voted to keep six new pickleball courts at Riverside Park in their 2024 capital improvement plan.
Council Member Paul Williams says he has some concerns about the projects $507,000 price tag, and that constructing the courts could take away from other facilities revenue sources when it comes to where people can play the spot.
Council President Paul Benson says he supports the addition of the courts, with pickleball being a fast gowning sport the addition of the courts would keep people from getting turned away and give more people a chance to play.
The council voted 5 to 2 to keep the courts in the plan, with Williams and council member Heather Miller the two dissenting votes.
