A Janesville woman went to pick up children from school with a loaded gun on her hip even after her boyfriend warned her not to.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Rock County court last week, 41-year-old Danielle Reints’s boyfriend had specifically told the woman not to go on school grounds with a gun on her hip.

But she did anyway, and the compliant says the gun was loaded with five bullets when she walked onto the playground at Janesville’s Van Buren Elementary the afternoon of Sept. 27 to pick up her boyfriend’s children.

Reints later told police and school authorities her ex-husband was a police officer. She said she thought if police can carry guns on school grounds, anybody can.

Reents faces felony possession of a firearm on school grounds. The case comes up for an initial court hearing October 30.
