The city of Milton has named five finalists for its open city administrator position.

Coming out of an hours-long closed session meeting Monday night, the city now announces the council has tapped:

— Beloit parks and recreation director Matthew Amundson.

— Village of Shorewood Hills administrator Sharon Eveland.

— Village of Spencer Administrator Clerk Treasurer Paul Hensch.

— Village of Cottage Grove deputy administrator John “JJ” Larson.

— Dean of Aurora University’s Woodstock, Illinois campus.

City council members indicated the city had about 10 initial applicants before culling the list to five finalists out of Monday’s closed session.

All those candidates will be at a public meet-and-greet at 6 p.m. Oct. 8 at Milton City Hall.

Former city administrator Al Hulick left the city in July for a teaching position.

It’s been a veritable hiring spree in Milton for top-level administration lately.

The city also is in the midst of finalizing a contract with Fort Atkinson detective Brandon Sachse as the Milton’s new police chief. Sachse replaces Scott Marquardt, who leaves the helm of the Milton Police Department in October.
