The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin is one of 90 animal welfare groups around the country chosen to receive a grant to help senior dogs.

Fundraising Coordinator Shannon Redden says the $4000 from the Grey Muzzle Organization will make a difference for dogs enjoying their golden years.

Redden says the money will be used to offer half price adoption fees on 10 senior dogs, and the rest will go towards medical procedures the senior dogs need before being adopted.

Over the past 15 years, the national nonprofit Grey Muzzle Organization has provided more than $4.6 million in grants to support its vision of “a world where no old dog dies alone and afraid.”
