A Beloit resident gearing up for her freshman year of college took home a $1,000 scholarship at the Wisconsin State Fair this year.

Kinsley Wetzel says she had plenty of experience at the state fair in previous years showing off animals and performing, so she figured she’s take a shot at the scholarship and was lucky enough to be recognized.

Wetzel says she plans to use the money towards tuition at UW-Platteville, where she wants to major in animal science biology and hopes to study embryology or be in a lab and researching better ways to improve production of agriculture.

Sara Kronberg of Milton was another local winner, taking home a $1,500 scholarship at the fair.
