In order to create a more efficient use of resources, the Beloit Police Department is launching a new self-reporting tool.

Patrol Division Captain Christian Dalton says people can report crimes like shoplifting under $500, thefts, frauds and scams, vandalism, or drug violations where they don’t have an immediate suspect or need to follow up at a different time.

Dalton says officers will be able to prioritize their time on more emergency-related calls and they’ll follow up on self reported crimes during slower parts of the day, and the service also builds community trust by allowing residents to feel heard by the department.

People can visit the Beloit Police Department Facebook page or the city’s website for more information.
