Congressman Bryan Steil of Janesville secures a win for the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport.

Around 100 small airports around the country, including the one in Janesville, could be receiving modern radar equipment thanks to an amendment the Republican made to the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act.

Airport Director Greg Cullen says their air traffic controllers rely on their eyes and ears only to director airport traffic.

Cullen says installing a radar display in an air traffic control tower would allow controllers to receive and view data from aircraft and radar towers at other airports, including aircraft altitude, heading, speed, distance, and weather data.
