
A 27-year-old Janesville man is arrested without incident following a short standoff that lasted several hours.
According to a news release, Janesville Police were dispatched to the 300 block of East Memorial Drive just before 5:00 Friday afternoon on the report of a wanted subject.
Arriving officers observed Marquayl Shields retreat into an apartment. Witnesses reported seeing shields with a firearm the day before.
Shields at first refused to speak to officers, or exit the apartment.
When a search warrant was obtained, and the SWAT team arrived, Shields surrendered without incident. Officers located a stolen gun in the apartment.
Shields was arrested on suspicion of a probation violation, battery, strangulation, and intimidation of a victim with domestic violence enhancers, felony bail jumping, and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
