The Wisconsin DNR is reminding hunters the 2023 Spring Turkey season begins on Wednesday.

DNR Assistant Turkey Ecologist Alissa Kakatsch  says hunters get one bearded or male turkey during the spring season, and they will need to be aware of the designated zone and time period on their hunter authorizations.

Kakatsch says hunters aged 15 and younger can participate in the Youth Turkey hunt Saturday and Sunday, and those under 12 or without a hunter education certificate can participate under the Mentored Hunting Program.

Kakatsch  says turkey registration in mandatory, and must be done either online or via the phone by 5:00pm the day after recovery.

People can visit the DNR’s turkey hunting in Wisconsin webpage to find answers to commonly asked questions regarding the Spring season.
