An upcoming class at the Beloit Public Library is giving local residents the oppurtuntiy to help the National Weather Service.

NWS Lead Meteorologist Kevin Wagner says a Storm Spotter Training course will be held April 6th at 6:00pm, and the class will go over the materials and training needed so people can accurately report things to the NWS.

Wagner says the NWS issues the warnings and watches, but they can only see so much, so having people on the ground in the area who can give them as much information as possible is a big help.

The class is free and open to the public.
