Both the Rock County Board of Supervisors and the Wisconsin State Legislature recognize long-time volunteer Tony Farrell Sr. on the eve of his retirement.

State Senator Mark Spreitzer presented a legislative citation to Farrell at last week’s county board meeting on behalf of himself and State Senator Steve Nass, as well as Representatives Sue Conley, Clinton Anderson, Jenna Jacoson, Scott Johnson, and Ellen Schutt.

The County Board also unanimously passed a resolution recognizing Farrell’s more than 50 years as a volunteer, including serving as the unpaid executive director the Suicide Prevention and Safety Series.

In addition to giving presentations on suicide prevention, Farrell was a long-time volunteer with the Rock County Coroner’s Office and later the Medical Examiner’s Department.

Farrell’s retirement starts Wednesday.
