With the Beloit City Council recently approving Classic Cinema in Beloit’s Class B Malt Beverage license, the theatre is inching closer to selling beer at their location.

Executive Assistant Tori Johnson says she’s not able to give an exact start date, but it should be in the near future as they need to train employees and management to make sure they’re ready.

Johnson says they could expand beyond selling just beer, but the city currently doesn’t have any licensees available they will have to wait until one opens up before they potentially start selling wine a cocktails.

The City Council changed a city ordinance in January to allow the sale of alcohol at movie theatres in Beloit.
