A 17-year-old from Beloit take a plea deal in a Rock County homicide case, avoiding a trial that was set to start next month.

Wednesday  morning judge Karl Hanson accepted a guilty plea from 17-year-old Dante Wilson to a single count of felony murder based off of aggravated battery, and additional charges of possession of a firearm on school grounds, and possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under the age of 18 were dismissed.

Wilson had been charged with first-degree intentional homicide which carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison.

Wilson is accused of shooting a 19-year-old to death in September of 2021 during a fight because two people were talking to the same girl.

Wilson was 15-years-old at the time of the crime and he was arrested with a loaded gun in his backpack at Beloit Memorial High School.

He faces up to 25 years in prison at sentencing on May 10th.
