With election day nearing, the candidates for Wisconsin’s 33rd Assembly District discuss the issues on Big Radio.

When it comes to how to best spend an estimated $5 billion budget surplus, Republican Scott Johnson says extra money is the result of good fiscal management by the legislature over the years, and some of it should be returned to the taxpayers.

Democrat Don Vruwink says we have to look where we can spend the surplus that creates an investment which includes infrastructure like roads, broadband, bridges, and waterways.

On the topic of abortion, Vruwink says he supported Roe versus Wade and thinks a decision that should be made between a woman and her doctor. Johnson says he would support exceptions to the 1849 law in cases of rape, incest, or where the mother’s life is at risk.

The election is Tuesday, November 8th.
